Your information, handled like it matters

Privacy Policy

This is a simple website for a small law practice, and this is a correspondingly simple policy. Effective August 1, 2026.

The Short Version

This website exists to tell you about the practice and give you ways to reach Tom Conits. It does not run advertising trackers, does not set analytics cookies, and does not sell, rent, or trade anyone's personal information — full stop. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us when you call, text, email, or fill out the contact form. We use it to respond to you and, if you become a client, to represent you. That's the policy. The sections below spell it out.

Information You Give Us

If you contact the firm — by phone or text at (864) 777-1000, by email, or through the form on our contact page — we receive whatever you include: typically your name, phone number, email address, and a description of what happened to you. Please remember that contacting us does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship, so hold the most sensitive details for an actual conversation. See our Legal Disclaimer for what that distinction means.

Information Collected Automatically

This site is a set of static pages. We do not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics scripts, social-media embeds, or marketing cookies, and the pages make no requests to outside services. Like nearly every website, the server that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — for security and troubleshooting. We use any such logs only for those purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond when you reach out — usually the same day.
  • To evaluate whether we can help with your potential case.
  • To represent you, if you hire the firm — at which point attorney–client confidentiality and the South Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct govern, and they are far stricter than any privacy policy.
  • To comply with legal and ethical obligations that apply to law practices.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not add you to marketing lists for contacting us.

When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information — to anyone, for any purpose. We share it only: (1) with service providers needed to operate the practice, such as our website host, phone carrier, or email provider, which process it on our behalf; (2) as needed to handle your legal matter, with your knowledge, once you are a client — for example with courts, experts, or opposing insurers; and (3) if the law genuinely requires it, such as a valid court order. If you send information about someone else, please make sure you have their permission.

Calls and Text Messages

If you call or text the office number, we will use that number to respond to you about your inquiry. We do not enroll you in automated marketing texts. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply to texting.

How Long We Keep Information

Inquiries we can't help with are kept only as long as useful for conflict-checking and then disposed of. Client files are retained and destroyed according to the firm's file-retention practices and South Carolina ethical requirements.

Security

We take reasonable measures appropriate to a small practice to protect the information we hold. No website or email system is perfectly secure, which is another reason to save the most sensitive details for a phone call or an in-person meeting — including one at your own kitchen table.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Injury cases involving minors are handled through their parents or guardians.

Links to Other Sites

Where this site links to outside resources — courts, government agencies, our BBB profile — those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change — for example, if we ever add analytics — this page will be updated first, with a new effective date at the top, before any change takes effect.

Contact

Questions about this policy or about information you've sent us: call or text (864) 777-1000, or write to The Carolina Injury Lawyer, 100 Williams St, Greenville, SC 29601.

If you can't come to me, I'll come to you.

I personally drive to clients' homes across Greenville and the surrounding counties — hospital rooms and kitchen tables included. You were just hurt; the last thing you need is a trip to a law office.

— Thomas Spiro Conits
